Hello, I would like to inquire in regards to the front crank pulley on a 3116 - 1st - is there any sealant between the crank & the pulley? 2nd - what is the torque for the 4 bolts that retain it to the crank?

Thanks again, sorry to be a bother - no manuals yet - on order

Hi

To your question..

1,Yes,there is seal assembly and you should use installer 1U-7430(the new seal should be to come with wear ring on pullay)

2,torque is 160 +/-30Nm(118 +/-22lbft)

Hello,

I have the installer, thanks for the torque spec. - I would like to know if there is a sealant used between the crankshaft itself & the inside of the pulley - seems there must be something used to stop the oil from leaking between the crank & the pulley - the seal in the front cover stops leakage on the OD of the pulley. Any ideas or info would be great.

Thanks again,

Hi

I have checked the parts manual and disassembly and assembly but there is not sealant.

Did you think sealant for ID of pulley?

I repaired this engine but we did not use sealant and all is ok.

Other cat engine have same construction and they are not using sealant too.

Do you have a problem with leakage through ID?

If you have SIS you can use guidelines for reusable parts and salvage operation in document structure or you can find it by media search SEBF8220 and check pulley by specification and check contact surface of pulley and crankshaf.

hello, thanks for the info-I put a bit of silicone on the ID of the pulley - seems a bit of a loose fit on the crank - I imagine they are relying on the fit between the inside end of the pulley and the end of the crank to seal it - this thing is in a boat - don't want to be working on it again after the engine is installed. I'll let you know how things go.

Thanks again,

Solve this simple math problem and enter the result. E.g. for 1+3, enter 4.
