Get Your License

There are a lot of very skilled technicians out there that have been pulling wrenches for 20+ years. When they got into the trade the mechanics license was not required and as they have always been working they have not bothered to obtain a license. This is now starting to hurt them when they are looking for alternative employment, especially out of province. In areas such as Ontario a ticket is not near as important for off road equipment as it is in Alberta but with that being said a licensed technician will always get offered the job first and be paid more for the same job. If you have been in the trade for a while now but don’t have your certification take the steps to get it done today. All that is required is challenging the ‘Red Seal Exam.” For more information about who to contact to write the test visit www.red-seal.ca. Even if you have been in the trade and know your stuff, don’t forget to study as some of the terminology may be a little different to what you are used to.
