
Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Shop & Field
Job Description
A reputable construction equipment provider in Abilene, Texas, is hiring multiple Heavy Equipment Mechanics for both shop-based and field service roles. Technicians will maintain and repair general heavy machinery and aerial lifts. Apply today to work with modern tools on a cutting-edge fleet!
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on general construction equipment and aerial lifts.
- Perform preventative maintenance, safety checks, and inspections on both rental fleet and customer-owned machinery.
- Use laptops/tablets to manage work orders, access telematics data, and document service activities.
- Shop Mechanics: Perform in-yard diagnostics, repairs, and scheduled maintenance at the facility.
- Field Mechanics: Operate a service truck and perform on-site diagnostics and repairs at customer job sites.
- Maintain accurate electronic records and communicate findings and repair status.
- Assist with equipment parts pickup and delivery as needed.
- Follow safe work practices and company safety procedures during all repair and service tasks.
Qualifications:

Required:
- 2+ years of experience servicing heavy equipment or aerial lifts in shop or field settings.
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and ability to read schematics and diagrams.
- Must own professional tools required for heavy equipment service.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; must be 21+ to operate a service vehicle (field roles only).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various physical positions throughout the shift.

- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and procedures.
- Experience with digital diagnostics platforms and telematics.

Shifts

Day Shift; Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Overtime available after 40 hours per week.
- Weekend on-call rotation only in special circumstances.
Compensation
-
$25/hr – $45/hr (based on experience, certifications, and skill level).
