Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Automotive Journeyman Mechanic to join an established school bus fleet in Acheson, Alberta. This position is ideal for a certified technician with strong diagnostic and repair experience. Apply today to join a reliable and safety-focused maintenance team!
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel and gasoline engines, drivetrains, brakes, steering, suspension, HVAC, and electrical systems.
- Test-drive vehicles to confirm repairs are complete and issues are properly resolved.
- Ensure all major repairs are inspected and approved before releasing vehicles back into service.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with provincial safety standards.
- Identify and report any additional maintenance or repair needs found during service.
- Record all labor hours, parts used, and repair details accurately in maintenance records.
- Communicate with the Lead Technician about any unsafe practices, vehicle abuse, or safety concerns.
- Perform road calls and on-site repairs when required.
- Assist with ordering parts, managing inventory, and preparing fleet vehicles for seasonal operations.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience performing maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles such as buses or trucks in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Must possess an Alberta Automotive Service Technician Journeyperson certification or Red Seal equivalent.
- Proficient in diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel and gasoline engines, electrical systems, brakes, and steering/suspension components.
- Familiarity with CVIP standards and the ability to prepare vehicles for inspection.
- Experience using diagnostic software, scan tools, and computer-based maintenance programs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with good organizational abilities.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to perform road calls as needed.
- CVIP Inspection Technician certification and experience with purchasing or inventory management are considered assets.

Compensation
- $39 to $40/hr based on experience.
