A fleet services operation in Bartow, FL, is hiring a Fleet Maintenance Mechanic to handle diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of heavy and light-duty vehicles. Ideal candidates are skilled in multi-system repairs and comfortable working independently. Apply now!

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair brake, fuel, hydraulic, ignition, and electrical systems on vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections on all fleet vehicles.
• Use diagnostic tools and technical manuals to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Complete work orders with detailed documentation of repairs, time, and materials used.
• Conduct road tests to verify repair accuracy.
• Perform metal fabrication and welding tasks as needed.
• Prepare vehicles and equipment for auction.
• Maintain and service shop tools and equipment.
• Participate in field repairs, overtime, on-call rotation, and occasional shop cleanup.

Requirements:

• Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade school certification may be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in automotive, transit, or heavy equipment repair.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License and CDL Class A or B permit with endorsements.
  • Minimum of one ASE Heavy Master Certification or equivalent (e.g., EVT).
  • Strong diagnostic and repair skills across diesel/gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read service manuals, wiring diagrams, and use diagnostic software.
  • MACS A/C certification or equivalent.
  • Must provide own basic hand tools.

• Preferred:

  • Welding certification or experience with oxyacetylene/electronic welding.
