Job Description

A regional land clearing and materials processing company in Brewster, NY, is hiring a Lead Diesel Mechanic / Shop Foreman to oversee fleet maintenance and repairs. Ideal candidates have strong heavy equipment experience and leadership skills. Apply today to lead a hands-on, high-impact team!

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment, including skidders, grinders, loaders, and excavators.
  • Handle hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting, brake and clutch repairs, cylinder rebuilds, and light fabrication work.
  • Supervise shop staff, assign tasks, and ensure repair quality and safety compliance.
  • Schedule, prioritize, and perform preventative maintenance for optimal fleet uptime.
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection logs, and parts inventory.
  • Communicate repair needs with field crews, dispatch, and operations managers.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety protocols.

 

Qualifications:

  • Required:

    • 5+ years of experience working on diesel equipment, heavy machinery, and fleet vehicles.
    • Previous experience as a shop foreman, lead mechanic, or fleet maintenance technician.
    • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical diagnostics.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Reliable, organized, and committed to high-quality work.
  • Preferred:

    • CDL license.
    • Welding and fabrication experience.
    • Ability to read schematics and use diagnostic tools/software.
    • Spanish language skills.

Shifts

  • Full-time Day shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

    • Flexible start times available after probationary period.
    • Overtime available and paid after 40 hours per week.
    • Occasional Saturdays may be required based on workload.
    • Weekly pay schedule.

Compensation

  • Up to $52/hr to start (based on experience, certifications, and skill level).
