A busy truck and trailer repair shop in Brooklyn, NY, is hiring an experienced Diesel Mechanic to perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance. Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and safety checks on trucks and trailers.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, aftertreatment systems, drivetrains, clutches, axles, air brakes, steering, and suspension.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems using diagnostic tools, schematics, and test equipment.
- Service PTO systems, liftgates, and hydraulic components.
- Document all repairs, order parts, and complete accurate work orders; conduct road tests when required.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow shop safety standards.
- Support team workflow and assist with customer service repairs when needed.
Requirements
- Required:
- 3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic working on heavy trucks, trailers, or heavy equipment.
- Skilled in diagnostics and repair of engines, electrical, hydraulics, brakes, and driveline systems.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics.
- Own standard mechanic tools; valid driver’s license; physically able to lift 50+ lbs.
- Strong safety focus, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Preferred:
- OEM training or certifications (Cummins, CAT, International, Detroit, Allison).
- ASE certifications (T-Series) or EPA 609 HVAC certification.
- CDL A or B license.
- Experience with PTO-driven hydraulics, liftgates, welding, or fabrication.

Shifts

Day shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
- Occasional half-day Saturdays required during peak seasons.
- Overtime available as needed to meet workload demands.
- Steady hours year-round.
Compensation

$25.00–$50.00 per hour, depending on experience, certifications, and skill level.

$5,000 Sign-On Bonus available after probation and verified qualifications.
