This position is essential for supporting the Fleet Manager by coordinating and supervising all aspects of vehicle operations, maintenance contracts, and compliance with federal and state guidelines. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Fleet Manager in overseeing vehicle operations and maintenance, ensuring timely and effective preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
  • Coordinate and manage maintenance activities, upholding high performance standards and compliance with all contractual terms.
  • Conduct local travel between locations and participate in after-hour events and on-call duties as required.
  • Monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), warranty claims, and recall activities to ensure prompt vehicle repairs.
  • Collaborate with vendors and body shops to manage repair estimates and conduct regular fleet vehicle inspections.
  • Maintain meticulous records of fleet maintenance and inspections.
  • Manage data entry into vehicle maintenance software to ensure adherence to operational procedures.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints regarding vehicle conditions.
  • Assist in fleet vehicle audits, the management of vehicle graphics, and oversee new vehicle delivery and servicing.
  • Implement strategies with the Fleet Manager to reduce vehicle downtime and improve operational efficiencies.

 

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in fleet management, automotive technology, or a related field, or equivalent vocational training focused on passenger and large vehicle maintenance or diesel technology.
  • At least 2 years of experience in vehicle fleet maintenance or a related field.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a Minnesota Class B CDL with air brake and passenger endorsements within 6 months of hire.
  • Understanding of CDL air brakes, pre-trip inspections, and passenger transport.

Desirable Competencies & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in diesel technology, automotive technology, or fleet management.
  • ASE Master Technician certification.
  • DOT Inspector’s certification and Minnesota UST Operator certification.
  • Experience with Transit Emergency Preparedness and Homeland Security Emergency Preparedness training.
  • Proficiency with AssetWorks M5 fleet maintenance software and OPW Fuel System software.
  • Extensive experience in large vehicle fleet maintenance.

Compensation

  • $63,700 – $74,900 dependent on experience and certifications
