An established heavy construction fleet is hiring a Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic in Chatham, VA to maintain and repair equipment across regional projects. Ideal candidates have strong hydraulic, electrical, and diagnostic experience and can work independently. Duties & Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, engine, drivetrain, and undercarriage issues in the field
• Maintain excavators, dozers, articulated trucks, loaders, skid steers, dump trucks, pickups, hydroseeders, and support equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, and repairs to minimize equipment downtime
• Troubleshoot equipment issues accurately and complete quality repairs without unnecessary parts replacement
• Maintain accurate repair documentation and communicate equipment condition and completed work
• Keep the company-provided service truck clean and organized while following safe work practices

Requirements

• Required:

• • Hands-on experience repairing heavy construction equipment and diesel-powered trucks or similar machinery
  • Experience with Caterpillar, Komatsu, Peterbilt, Mack, or comparable equipment and vehicles
  • Strong ability to diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, engine, drivetrain, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to complete field repairs independently with minimal supervision
  • Must provide personal mechanic’s tools
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to travel throughout Southern Virginia, Southern West Virginia, and nearby project areas
  • Dependable, self-motivated work habits and a strong commitment to quality repairs

• Preferred:

• • 5+ years of heavy equipment mechanic experience
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Commercial Driver’s License
