A well-established fleet operation in Hawthorn Woods, IL, is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician for a full-time opportunity. This role involves diagnosing and repairing a range of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems, maintaining a safe and productive work environment, and ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair issues across vehicle systems, including but not limited to steering, electrical, cooling, braking, drivetrain, suspension, transmission, and fuel systems.
- Perform adjustments, rebuilds, and routine maintenance on engines and related systems; conduct test drives to ensure all repairs are completed accurately and safely.
- Coordinate and obtain the necessary inspections and approvals for major repairs before vehicles are released from the maintenance facility.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work area; document all repairs accurately and report any additional maintenance needs or issues requiring higher-level support.
- Handle road calls and perform repairs while on the road as needed.
- Communicate unsafe maintenance conditions, practices, or signs of vehicle abuse to supervisory staff.
- Report concerns regarding inappropriate behavior or safety issues to appropriate management personnel.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience repairing medium- to heavy-duty truck fleets.
- Strong expertise in diagnostics, electrical systems, and A/C repair.
- Solid technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment.
- Experience with both diesel and gasoline engines in a fleet environment.
- Must own the basic hand tools required for a Diesel Technician.
- Valid state driver’s license required; CDL preferred. (Training available for those who need to obtain a CDL after hire.)
- ASE Certification preferred but not required. Company-supported training is available.

Compensation
- $25 to $26/hr based on experience.
