A trusted fleet maintenance provider is hiring a Diesel Mechanic in Covington, LA to repair diesel engines, heavy equipment, and fleet vehicles. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines, including Caterpillar and other major brands.
  • Maintain and repair heavy equipment, fleet vehicles, tractor-trailers, excavators, cranes, farm machinery, and similar equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension, HVAC, electrical systems, and related components.
  • Perform vehicle maintenance, brake repairs, alignments, shocks and struts replacement, tire service, and related repairs.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, schematics, and diagnostic procedures to complete repairs and fabrication work.
  • Document work performed, parts used, and repair details while communicating professionally with customers and team members.

 

Requirements

  • Required:
    • 2+ years of diesel mechanic experience with hands-on repair experience on diesel engines, vehicles, or heavy equipment.
    • Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, air brakes, transmissions, suspension, HVAC, and electrical systems.
    • Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, read schematics, and complete accurate repairs.
    • Hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and repair procedures.
    • Valid driver’s license with the ability to work independently and contribute in a team environment.
    • Able to lift over 50 lbs, perform physical repairs, and operate heavy equipment safely as needed.
    • Must complete pre-employment criminal background check, drug screening, and fitness-for-duty physical.
  • Preferred:
    • Dealership experience.
    • Additional diesel mechanic certifications.
    • Electrical repair and soldering experience.

Shifts

  • Day shift, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Compensation

  • $25.00 – $35.00/hour starting pay based on experience and certifications
  • Overtime available and paid after 40 hours/week
