Job Description

A fleet-based operation in Crested Butte, CO, is hiring a Mixed Fleet Mechanic to maintain vehicles, machinery, and backup power systems. Ideal candidates have diagnostic and repair experience across varied equipment. Apply now to join a dynamic team working 4-day weeks!

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance on mixed fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, and backup generators.
  • Monitor and maintain battery voltage, propane levels, repeater systems, and underground fuel tanks.
  • Inspect and maintain fuel pumps, hoses, and logs; prepare sites for EPA and state inspections.
  • Track inventory and order replacement parts as needed.
  • Use repair checklists and follow safety protocols and guidelines at all times.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle service records and workspaces.
  • Support daily operations and assist other departments as needed.
  • Utilize company apps and digital tools in line with SOPs.

 

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of mechanical repair and maintenance experience.
  • High school diploma or GED; clean MVR and valid driver’s license.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools, mechanical systems, and safety protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Pre-employment criminal background check required

 

Preferred:

  • Vocational/trade school certificate or associate degree in a related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Own tools and working knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification.
  • Valid passport for occasional domestic and international travel.

Shifts

  • Day Shift, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • 10-hour shifts, 4 days a week (fixed schedule)
  • Occasional half-day Saturdays during peak spring/summer season
  • No on-call rotation; occasional emergency response may be required

Compensation

  • $60,000 – $80,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications).
