
Heavy Duty Trailer Mechanic

Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and DOT-compliant inspections on trailers and related components
- Repair or replace roll doors, swing doors, trailer roofs, panels, lift gates, wheel seals, and flooring
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and structural issues across dry vans, flatbeds, and refrigerated trailers
- Conduct welding and fabrication on trailer structures and metal components
- Troubleshoot and repair ABS brake systems, trailer wiring, and lighting circuits
- Adjust brakes, align axles, and inspect suspension systems for damage or wear
- Maintain detailed service records, parts usage logs, and inspection reports
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safety-compliant shop environment
Requirements:
- Required:
- 3+ years of experience repairing and maintaining trailers, including dry vans, flatbeds, and refrigerated units
- Proficiency in welding, trailer bodywork, electrical repairs, and ABS diagnostics
- Hands-on experience with preventative maintenance and replacement of roll doors, swing doors, trailer roofs, panels, lift gates, wheel seals, and flooring
- Familiarity with DOT and FMCSA regulations related to trailer inspections and safety
- Reliable attendance and ability to work independently or in a team setting
- Preferred:
- Experience performing trailer alignments and repairing lift gates
- Background in commercial fleet, logistics, or moving industry operations
- Ability to assist or mentor junior mechanics with trailer repairs and shop procedures

Shifts

Steady day shift, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Full-time, year-round employment with consistent hours
Compensation

$25.00 – $35.00 per hour, based on experience and skill level
