Job Description

Join and established operation as a Fleet Service Mechanic in Elk River, MN, where you’ll play a key role in maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Service, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on GRE fleet assets, including vehicles, trailers, aerials, and power-operated equipment.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and make both minor and major repairs to electrical, hydraulic, air conditioning, gasoline, and diesel systems.
  • Follow all GRE safety rules, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Perform fabrication and welding as needed.
  • Conduct annual OSHA/ANSI inspections and repairs on aerials, digger derricks, cranes, and trailers.
  • Provide emergency field repairs for GRE fleet assets.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in the mobile service truck to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Perform MN DOT inspections on fleet vehicles and trailers over 10,000# GVWR.
  • Maintain a current bi-annual DOT inspector certification.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily indoor work with occasional outdoor assignments, sometimes in extreme weather conditions.
  • Work schedule includes 8-hour shifts and travel one week per month to field locations and service centers, with occasional overnight stays.

 

Requirements:

  • Two-year technical degree in automotive/heavy-duty truck repair and 2-3 years of experience, or related coursework with a minimum of 4 years of work experience in repair and maintenance.
  • MN DOT Inspector certification or ability to earn certification; Class A CDL preferred.
  • Ability to travel 25% for fieldwork, including some overnight stays.
  • Physical ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks that involve climbing, balancing, and working at heights.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work on various surfaces.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position, subject to drug, cannabis, and alcohol testing.

Shifts

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Ability to travel one week per month with some overnight stays, to field locations and service centers within MN or close proximity to MN.

Compensation

  • $44.72 – $52.61+ hourly. based on experience and certifications
