Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Eugene, OR, to support a high-performing truck fleet. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work independently on complex repairs, mentor junior technicians, and advance your career in a professional environment.

Responsibilities:

• Perform vehicle maintenance, including preventive maintenance and standard repairs.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic issues using diagnostic computers and software.
• Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision.
• Replace defective components and perform facility maintenance as needed.
• Work independently on most tasks and support facility operations, including Service Island duties.
• Interact with customers and drivers to identify and resolve vehicle concerns.
• Utilize the Shop Management System and electronic documentation tools.
• Access and use internal and external maintenance documents effectively.
• Act as a mentor for junior technicians (Tech 1 and Tech 2), providing guidance on diagnostics and repair procedures.
• Complete SBTIII training within 180 days and two OEM diagnostic scan tool courses within 365 days.
• Work in compliance with federal, state, and corporate safety guidelines, including DOT and MOT regulations.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; Vocational or Technical Certification is a plus.
• Must own basic tools for the role.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment preferred.
• Experience with routine preventive maintenance, including oil changes, brake, and tire work.
• Proficiency in basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of computer systems (PC, Windows, etc.) and the ability to use diagnostic tools.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A preferred; must obtain CDL within six months of hire.
• Must pass pre-employment drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background check, including drug and alcohol verification from the last three years.

Additional Requirements:

• Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach other technicians.
• Proficiency with shop computers and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Must be available for shift work, weekends, and on-call duties as required.
