Job Description
Shop Technician (Heavy Equipment) | $30–$45/hr + OT | Ketchikan, AK
We are seeking an experienced Shop Technician to join a well-established organization in the Ketchikan, AK region. This is a full-time opportunity working on a diverse fleet of heavy equipment and industrial machinery in a fully equipped shop environment. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic and repair abilities and enjoy tackling complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
This role is primarily shop-based, supporting equipment reliability through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, major component repairs, and rebuilds.
What You'll Be Working On
- Diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of heavy equipment and industrial machinery
- Hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine troubleshooting and repairs
- Major component replacements and rebuilds, including engines, pumps, cylinders, and driveline components
- OEM-supported diagnostics using laptop-based software
- Preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled service work
- Reading and interpreting schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation
- Collaborating with service management to prioritize and complete work orders efficiently
- Maintaining accurate repair records and ensuring high-quality workmanship

What We're Looking For
- 4–5+ years of journeyman-level heavy equipment technician experience
- Strong background diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment or industrial machinery
- Proven expertise in hydraulic and electrical diagnostics
- Experience with CAT, Volvo, Komatsu, John Deere, or similar equipment considered a strong asset
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Valid driver's license and own hand tools
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently
- Experience performing major component repairs and rebuilds preferred
- Physically capable of performing the demands of a busy shop environment

- Background check, drug screening, and mechanical assessment required
