An established commercial truck service center in Harpersville, AL, is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to diagnose and repair Class 5–8 vehicles. Duties & Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines and related systems on Class 5–8 trucks.
• Perform engine repairs, overhauls, and preventative maintenance to OEM specifications.
• Inspect and repair brake systems, steering components, wheel bearings, and other safety-critical systems.
• Diagnose and repair HVAC (A/C and heating), charging, and starting systems.
• Use OEM diagnostic software, scan tools, handheld computers, gauges, and precision instruments to identify faults and verify repairs.
• Road test vehicles to diagnose concerns and confirm repairs meet safety and performance standards.
• Inspect dimensions and clearances to ensure conformance with factory specifications.
• Tag parts, document repairs, and follow all OEM warranty and repair procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and protect customer vehicles during and after repairs.

Requirements

• Required:

  • 2–5 years of experience performing medium/heavy-duty truck repairs (Class 5–8).
  • Strong diagnostic skills across diesel engines, electrical systems, HVAC, and chassis components.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced shop environment.
  • Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and electronic diagnostic tools.

• Preferred:

  • Cummins and/or Detroit OEM certifications, or willingness to obtain through paid training.
  • Class B CDL.
  • ASE certifications.
