Job Description
Are you looking for stable, permanent, full-time employment where rotations have you putting in full time hours for only 1/2 the year?
We have Heavy Equipment Technician - Lead Hand position available and a continual need to add experienced Red Seal/Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technicians who specialize in Construction and Mining Equipment repair.
These positions are in safety-sensitive environments on a 24/17 rotation within a mine site in the North British Columbia.
The ideal Heavy Equipment Technician - Lead Hand will be:
- Must be Experienced in Remote Rotational Mining Work
- Able to understand equipment systems to effectively and efficiently determine the necessary route for repairs.
- Highly motivated and self-driven to do their best work every day.
- Experienced, competent and able to repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain mobile heavy duty equipment.
- An enthusiastic team player and leader.
- Able to accept learning opportunities to continually develop themselves professionally and personally.
- Willing to work outside of perhaps their typical scope of Equipment. Screens, Crushers, Generators, Pumps, Drills etc. (All equipment to run a fully remote mine will be in your repair purview)
Accommodations are provided including your own room and a bathroom (Overlap Days). Successful technicians will receive flight and travel accommodations to site and returned to Their Home Location, they will be responsible for travel on their own time.

Compensation:
- $50 -$60/HR Depending on Experience.
- OT After 8 Hours a Day

The Job:
- 12-hour shifts. Only Day Shift, NO NIGHTS!
- 24 days on and 17 days off rotation.
- Specialize in and on Modern Open Pit Mining Equipment Maintenance & Repair.
- Check dozers, haul trucks, excavators and other heavy construction and mining equipment for proper performance.
- Inspect equipment for defects and malfunctions.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
- Repair and replace defective parts, components and/or systems.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and that it meets or exceeds manufacturer's specifications.
- Majority of work is performed in the shop; required to work independently and as part of a team.
What We Need From YOU:
- A Valid Red Seal or BC Heavy Equipment License.
- A minimum of 4 years experience working with Construction or Open Pit Mining Equipment.
- MUST include in depth experience with one or more of: CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, Volvo or Hitachi Equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting and technical skills.
- Superior mechanical aptitude.
- Shop and/or field work experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices.
- Collaborative communication style.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A complete set of mechanics tools.
- The ability to work in a remote location.
- The ability to lift and manage 50 pounds without assistance.

This is a unique opportunity for experienced min mechanics to become part of a close team of individuals. Focused on Work/Life balance. The Camp closes for approximately 3 months of the year, typically from December until March.
