
Diesel Mechanic
Job Description
A fleet operation in Indianapolis, IN, is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to support a heavy-duty truck fleet. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and related equipment.
- Conduct component inspections and address identified mechanical or electronic issues.
- Use diagnostic software and tools to troubleshoot and resolve failures.
- Complete preventive maintenance services, including oil changes, brake work, and tire repairs.
- Replace defective parts and follow repair procedures as instructed.
- Document repairs, parts used, and labor time in the shop management system.
- Interact with drivers and customers to determine vehicle concerns and ensure repairs meet expectations.
- Follow all DOT, MOT, and company safety compliance standards.
- Perform additional support duties as required, including facility upkeep and shop operations.
Requirements:

Required:
- 2+ years of combined classroom training and work experience in diesel or heavy-duty vehicle repair.
- Must own basic hand tools.
- Experience with gas or diesel engine repair, including brakes, tires, and preventive maintenance.
- Must be able to pass DOT physical, drug test, background check, road test, and MVR history (including drug/alcohol verification from prior employers over 3 years).
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months of hire.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CDL Class A.
- Technical or vocational certification in diesel mechanics.

Shifts
- Afternoon Shift, Tuesday – Saturday
- Tuesday – Friday: 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm
- Saturday: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
Compensation
- $27/hr to $28+/hr based on experience
- Bonuses:
- $4,000.00 Sign On Bonus.
- Quarterly performance bonus (up to $500 every quarter).
- $100 per new ASE certification (up to $700 total).
