Job Description

Join an established team in Jacksonville, FL, as a Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic. We are seeking a skilled technician to maintain and repair a variety of heavy equipment, including John Deere, Cat, and other competitive brands. This role is crucial for ensuring the operational efficiency and longevity of our machinery in the field. Ideal candidates will have robust experience in the construction industry, a deep understanding of mechanical systems, and a dedication to safety and quality.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance as well as emergency repairs on heavy equipment, focusing on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Diagnose malfunctions, execute repairs or replace defective parts, and ensure machines are operational and efficient.
  • Read and interpret technical documentation and schematics to accurately troubleshoot issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of John Deere, Cat, and competitive equipment.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations during work assignments.
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and condition of equipment, vehicles, inventory, and tools.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and adhere to safety and quality standards.

 

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience performing service and repairs on heavy equipment in the construction industry.
  • Must possess your own tools and have the ability to operate vehicles or equipment used for diagnostic purposes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in reading technical schematics.
  • Relevant certifications such as ASE or Heavy Equipment Mechanic Certification are preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Pre-employment criminal background checks are required.

 

 

 

HJ1

Shifts

  • Day Shift, 7:00AM – 5:00PM, Monday to Friday.
  • Overtime available and paid after 40 hours/week.
  • Mechanics must be willing to work half days on Saturdays if needed (normally during peak spring/summer season).

Compensation

  • $27.00 – $36.00/hour to start, based on previous experience/certifications/training.
  • A Full Comprehensive Benefits package is available on the 1st of the month after 60 days (Health, Vision, Dental, Life, and more.
