Job Description

We are looking for a Shop Manager with experience as a Class 8 Heavy Truck Diesel Mechanic in Columbia, SC, to lead a team in maintaining and repairing Class 8 diesel trucks and tank trailers. Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine maintenance and thorough inspections on heavy trucks and related equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues with an emphasis on quality and safety.
• Manage inventory of materials and supplies, ensuring availability for operations.
• Oversee and evaluate work performed by both in-house mechanics and external contractors.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to troubleshoot issues.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, specifically with Class 8 heavy trucks.
• Expertise in Cummins, Detroit, and Caterpillar engine systems is highly desirable.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team in a shop environment.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• High school diploma or equivalent; further certification in Diesel Mechanics or a related field preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Strong commitment to adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
• Pre-employment criminal background check required.

Additional Qualifications:

• ASE Certifications in heavy truck repair are a plus.
• Experience with tank trailers is advantageous.
• Good communication skills to interact with team members and report to management.
• Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work under physically demanding conditions.
