
Bus Mechanic
Job Description
A well-established transit service in Joshua Tree, CA, is hiring a Bus Mechanic to inspect, repair, and maintain fleet vehicles. Ideal candidates have mechanic experience and a strong understanding of vehicle systems. Apply today to join a dedicated maintenance team!
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform vehicle inspections, identifying damage, leaks, and worn components.
- Check and maintain fluid levels, change oil and filters, and lubricate chassis.
- Replace alternators, starters, radiators, heaters, and wiper systems.
- Inspect and tighten all nuts, bolts, and fittings; report wiring issues.
- Replace interior and exterior lights, bulbs, and lenses.
- Assist lead technicians with more complex repairs under supervision.
- Maintain and clean transit facilities, bus shelters, and hubs.
- Ensure all work follows safety protocols and company policies.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of mechanic experience.
- Proficiency with hand tools and safe repair procedures.
- Must provide basic tools necessary for job functions.
- Experience operating equipment such as welders, lifts, and spray systems.
- Ability to use protective safety equipment as required.

Shifts
- During the initial trial period, the shift schedule will mirror the Lead Mechanic which is:
- Monday-Friday from 5:30 AM – 2:30 PM (1 hour lunch).
- Once both mechanics are comfortable, the shift will be Tuesday-Friday from 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM and Saturdays from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Compensation
- Starting Pay: $34.30 with 5% annual merit increases for five (5) years.
