Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform daily DOT inspections on trucks and trailers; document defects and corrective actions.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues reported by drivers or management.
• Maintain and repair diesel trucks, trailers, tires/wheels, brake systems, and hydraulic systems.
• Ensure all equipment meets DOT requirements and internal safety standards.
• Execute and recommend preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and downtime.
• Prioritize repairs to keep critical units in service and minimize out-of-service time.
• Communicate repair status, safety concerns, and equipment readiness with drivers and leadership.
• Track parts usage and maintain accurate service records using inventory systems and computer-based maintenance software.
• Complete repairs efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively.
• Lead by example with strong organization, accountability, and safety awareness.

Requirements

• Required:

  • 5+ years of diesel mechanic or fleet mechanic experience working on trucks and trailers.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across brakes, tires, hydraulics, and general mechanical systems.
  • Experience with fleet preventative maintenance programs and inspection-driven repairs.
  • Working knowledge of DOT inspection standards and documentation requirements.
  • Comfortable using shop inventory systems and computer-based maintenance software.
  • Must provide own tools.
  • Reliable, safety-focused, and able to communicate clearly with drivers and shop personnel.
  • Ability to work 40+ hours per week.

• Preferred:

  • DOT Diesel Mechanic certification.
  • CDL (to move equipment as needed).
