Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform daily DOT inspections on trucks and trailers; document defects and corrective actions.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues reported by drivers or management.
- Maintain and repair diesel trucks, trailers, tires/wheels, brake systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Ensure all equipment meets DOT requirements and internal safety standards.
- Execute and recommend preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and downtime.
- Prioritize repairs to keep critical units in service and minimize out-of-service time.
- Communicate repair status, safety concerns, and equipment readiness with drivers and leadership.
- Track parts usage and maintain accurate service records using inventory systems and computer-based maintenance software.
- Complete repairs efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively.
- Lead by example with strong organization, accountability, and safety awareness.
Requirements

Required:
- 5+ years of diesel mechanic or fleet mechanic experience working on trucks and trailers.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across brakes, tires, hydraulics, and general mechanical systems.
- Experience with fleet preventative maintenance programs and inspection-driven repairs.
- Working knowledge of DOT inspection standards and documentation requirements.
- Comfortable using shop inventory systems and computer-based maintenance software.
- Must provide own tools.
- Reliable, safety-focused, and able to communicate clearly with drivers and shop personnel.
- Ability to work 40+ hours per week.

- DOT Diesel Mechanic certification.
- CDL (to move equipment as needed).
