A trusted fleet maintenance provider is hiring a Heavy-Duty Service Manager in New Orleans, LA to lead Class 5–8 truck, trailer, and aerial equipment repairs. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead, recruit, train, and evaluate technicians, service advisors, and support staff.
  • Schedule repair work and assign jobs based on technician skill, workload, and availability.
  • Oversee diagnosis and repair of Class 5–8 utility and OTR trucks, trailers, and aerial hydraulic equipment, ensuring work meets company, OEM, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Maintain customer relationships, communicate service needs and timelines, and resolve complaints or escalations.
  • Coordinate with parts and sales, manage warranty claims, and maintain accurate documentation for reimbursement.
  • Track customer satisfaction, labor hours, efficiency, revenue, budgets, and costs while improving productivity and identifying growth opportunities.

 

Requirements

  • Required:
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • 3–5 years of service management or supervisory experience in a heavy-duty truck, fleet, utility, or equipment service environment.
    • Strong technical knowledge of diagnostics and repairs for Class 5–8 trucks, trailers, and aerial hydraulic equipment.
    • Strong leadership, organization, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
    • Familiarity with dealership management systems such as CDK or Reynolds & Reynolds.
    • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; must complete a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and fitness-for-duty physical.
    • Able to lift more than 50 lbs and perform physical shop work, including standing, bending, kneeling, and crouching for extended periods.
  • Preferred:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Technology, Business, or a related field.
    • ASE or manufacturer-specific certifications.
    • Experience with service department budgeting, labor management, scheduling, OEM warranty procedures, and conflict resolution.

Compensation

  • $70,000 – $83,200 annually, based on experience and qualifications
