Job Description

A trusted fleet maintenance provider is hiring a Heavy Equipment Service Technician in New Orleans, LA to repair heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and aerial equipment. Ideal candidates have aerial equipment, hydraulic, and electrical experience. At least five years of truck, trailer, or heavy equipment repair experience is required. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy-duty trucks, trailers, aerial equipment, and related machinery in the shop or field.
  • Repair diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems, transmissions, suspensions, A/C systems, differentials, pumps, transfer cases, and related components.
  • Install and replace parts, equipment, and hardware, then test completed repairs for safe and reliable operation.
  • Read blueprints, mechanical schematics, and electrical diagrams to identify issues and complete repairs accurately.
  • Explain repair findings and recommended solutions clearly to customers, supervisors, and team members.
  • Complete service reports, recommend cost-effective repair options, and follow DOT, OSHA, ANSI, PPE, and company safety procedures.

 

Requirements

  • Required:
    • At least five years of hands-on experience repairing heavy-duty trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, or similar machinery.
    • Working knowledge of diesel, hydraulic, electrical, drivetrain, suspension, transmission, and A/C systems.
    • Ability to read blueprints, mechanical schematics, and electrical diagrams and use diagnostic tools effectively.
    • CDL Class B or higher and the ability to meet applicable driving requirements.
    • Strong troubleshooting, written communication, and technical judgment with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
    • Must provide basic personal tools and be available to work beyond standard hours when maintenance needs require it.
    • Able to work indoors and outdoors in noise, weather, fumes, oil, and grease, and lift or maneuver up to 100 lbs.
  • Preferred:
    • Cummins, Allison, or other heavy-duty certifications.
    • Hands-on experience repairing aerial equipment and hydraulic systems.
    • Welding and fabrication experience.

Shifts

  • Day Shift, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Compensation

  • $25.00 – $34.00/hour starting pay based on previous experience
  • Overtime available and paid after 40 hours/week
