Lead Fleet Mechanic
Job Description
A long-established sewer and underground utility contractor is hiring a Lead Fleet Mechanic in North Attleborough, MA to lead fleet maintenance and repairs. Ideal candidates have heavy-duty diesel experience and strong leadership skills. Apply to keep modern equipment operating at peak performance.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage maintenance and repair operations for trucks, jet-vac units, CCTV equipment, and support vehicles.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and vacuum system issues across a specialized fleet.
- Perform and oversee preventative maintenance to improve reliability, reduce downtime, and support year-round operations.
- Manage shop workflow, repair priorities, scheduling, and parts inventory to keep equipment service-ready.
- Supervise, train, and support mechanics and shop personnel while maintaining quality repair standards.
- Ensure fleet and equipment meet safety, inspection, and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with operations to prioritize repairs and keep field crews working efficiently.
- Help build and maintain a high-performing maintenance program for a modern fleet.
Requirements
- Required:

- Strong experience working on diesel engines, hydraulics, and heavy-duty trucks.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues efficiently.
- Leadership experience overseeing mechanics, shop personnel, or fleet maintenance operations.
- Strong organizational and communication skills in a fast-paced service environment.
- Ability to manage multiple repair priorities while minimizing equipment downtime.
- Willingness to complete a pre-employment criminal background check.
- Preferred:

- Experience working on sewer cleaning equipment such as Vactor, Vac-Con, or similar units.
- CDL.

Shifts
- Day shift, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Overtime available and paid after 40 hours per week

- Must be willing to work half days on Saturdays as needed, typically during peak spring and summer seasons
Compensation
- $40.00 – $65.00/hour starting pay based on experience, certifications, and training
