
Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Welder
Job Description
An established fleet operation in Odessa, FL, is hiring a Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Welder to service diesel-powered machines across multiple yards. Ideal candidates are self-driven, experienced in diagnostics, and capable of field repairs. Apply today to join a hands-on, mobile repair team!
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mobile equipment.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on excavators, loaders, crushers, screens, and conveyors.
- Identify required parts and tools for each repair; maintain clean, safe workspaces.
- Weld and fabricate as needed to support equipment repairs.
- Travel between local yards to complete field diagnostics and repairs with minimal supervision.
- Communicate effectively with off-site supervisors regarding status and needs.
Requirements:

Required:
- 2–5+ years of experience in heavy equipment and diesel repair.
- Proficiency with diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of hydraulics, electrical, and diesel systems.
- Valid state driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Own set of hand tools; strong manual dexterity and ability to work independently.
- Experience working on crushers, screens, and conveyor systems.
- Pre-employment physical and drug screening required.

- Welding experience.
- Familiarity with Caterpillar equipment.
- Post-secondary mechanical training or certification.

Shifts
- Full-time position.
- Day shift, Monday to Friday.
- 8–12 hour shifts.
- Overtime and weekends as needed.
Compensation

$25.00 – $30.00 per hour (based on experience and skill level).
