Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Caterpillar, Detroit, Cummins, and Volvo diesel engines
- Perform preventive maintenance on buses and motor coaches, including brake service, oil changes, fluid service, and tire inspections or replacement
- Use diagnostic computers, software, and testing procedures to identify mechanical and electrical issues and confirm repairs
- Create and update electronic service orders using Fullbay or similar shop management software
- Record parts usage, track inventory, and coordinate parts needs with the parts department
- Complete inspections and service documentation, follow safe work practices, and support efficient daily shop operations
Requirements
- Required:

- Experience as a diesel technician, school bus mechanic, or heavy-duty vehicle mechanic
- Working knowledge of diesel engines, preventive maintenance, and commercial vehicle systems
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and software
- Ability to complete electronic work orders, track parts usage, and support inventory control
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to meet company insurance requirements
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Able to perform physical repairs, work around noise, fumes, and heavy equipment, and complete a pre-employment criminal background check
- Preferred:

- Technical certification in diesel mechanics or a related field
- Experience with Caterpillar, Detroit, Cummins, or Volvo engines, advanced diagnostic tools, and Fullbay or similar software
- CDL and experience maintaining motor coaches, school buses, or other commercial heavy-duty vehicles

Shifts
- Day shift, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Hours may be adjusted to align with the current maintenance team

- Occasional weekend work may be required, typically one weekend per month during peak season
Compensation
- $30.00 – $45.00/hour starting pay based on experience, certifications, and training
- Overtime opportunities during peak season, paid after 40 hours per week
