Job Description
An established transportation fleet is hiring a Diesel Mechanic / Bus & Motor Coach Technician in Princeton, NJ to keep coaches, Sprinters, SUVs, and sedans road-ready. Ideal candidates have strong diesel diagnostics experience. Apply now for a stable day-shift role earning up to $50/hr.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on diesel motor coaches, buses, Sprinter vans, SUVs, and sedans.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot diesel engines, air brake systems, electrical components, suspension/steering, and HVAC systems.
- Service and repair brakes, tires, suspension, steering, and related chassis components.
- Conduct DOT and safety inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Use diagnostic software and testing equipment to identify mechanical and electronic faults.
- Repair or replace components and perform road tests to confirm proper operation.
- Maintain accurate repair orders and preventive maintenance records.
- Coordinate with supervisors and team members to maintain fleet uptime and workflow efficiency.
- Follow all shop safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Requirements

Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of experience working on diesel engines, buses, motor coaches, heavy-duty trucks, or mixed fleets.
- Strong diesel diagnostics and preventive maintenance skills.
- Working knowledge of air brake, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic software, scan tools, and standard shop equipment.
- Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and communication skills.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move heavy parts and equipment.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Preferred:
- 5+ years of experience in diesel or bus/motor coach maintenance.
- Technical or vocational training in diesel or heavy vehicle systems.
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) or ability to obtain one.

Shifts

Day shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday
- Occasional overtime or schedule adjustments may be required based on fleet demands.
Compensation

$27.00 – $50.00/hour starting pay based on experience, certifications, and training
