An industry-leading heavy civil construction contractor is hiring a Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Diesel) in Salt Lake City, UT to maintain and repair a modern fleet supporting large-scale excavation and infrastructure projects. Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems on heavy construction equipment and fleet vehicles.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and safety compliance checks to ensure reliable field operations.
- Travel to and handle equipment breakdowns at active job sites throughout the Salt Lake City and Heber City areas, performing mobile repairs as needed.
- Maintain detailed service, inspection, and repair documentation.
- Coordinate with supervisors and equipment operators to prioritize maintenance and minimize downtime.
- Assist with parts ordering, inventory management, and maintaining clean, organized shop and service vehicles.
Requirements
- Required:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Experience servicing construction equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, and haul trucks.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently or within a team environment.

- CDL or willingness to obtain one.

Evenings and weekends may be required based on project demands

Compensation

$30.00 – $45.00/hr starting pay based on experience, certifications, and training.
