
Industrial Engine and Equipment Mechanic

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor engines, gas compressors, blowers, flares, and related systems.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and complete major mechanical overhauls.
- Use hand tools, measuring tools, welding gear, and machining equipment for fabrication and repair work.
- Inspect and repair piping, valves, pumps, gearboxes, and air systems.
- Drive and operate forklifts, manlifts, and use cranes with rigging gear to move equipment safely.
- Work closely with other mechanics, operators, and skilled trades on shared tasks.
- Follow safety procedures, attend training, and use manuals and drawings to complete work accurately.
Qualifications:

Required:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience working on engines, generators, or heavy mechanical systems in wastewater, industrial, or power plant settings; OR 4+ years assisting in similar repair and maintenance work.
- California Class C driver’s license.
- Physically able to lift and move up to 100 lbs., work in tight spaces, climb ladders, and handle tools and parts in all weather conditions.
- Comfortable using basic computers or touchscreen systems to check work orders, log repairs, or monitor equipment readings.

Preferred:
- Trade school or mechanical training in engines or industrial systems.
- Certifications in mechanical maintenance, welding, hazardous materials, or confined space entry.
- Experience with large engines, pumps, and control systems used in treatment plants or similar industrial environments.

Shifts
- Positions work rotating shifts, including days, swing, graveyard, weekends, and holidays.
- Shifts typically rotate every 3 months.
- Standard schedules include 5 days a week at 8 hours per day or a 4/10 schedule (4 days at 10 hours).
- Final schedules are determined by operational needs.
Compensation

$41.87 – $56.50 per hour (based on experience and qualifications).
