Job Description

Join a family-owned and operated transportation company as a 310T Apprentice Mechanic in Smithville, ON. This is an excellent opportunity for a 2nd or 3rd-year apprentice to gain hands-on experience and grow within a supportive team environment. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with a wide range of tools and equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Diagnose and repair various types of transportation equipment.
  • Ensure timely completion and accurate documentation of work orders, inspection reports, and related paperwork.
  • Communicate with customers under certain conditions to meet service expectations and provide added value.
  • Maintain compliance with all governmental regulations, including MOT and DOT standards.
  • Road-test trucks and trailers, operating defensively to avoid fines or accidents.
  • Ensure tractor-trailer units meet all safety and mechanical fitness standards.

 

Requirements:

  • Must be a 2nd or 3rd-year 310T apprentice.
  • Valid Provincial driver’s license (AZ or DZ preferred).
  • Working knowledge of MOT and DOT regulations, WHMIS, and other Federal, State, and Provincial standards.
  • Grade 12 proficiency in oral and written English.
  • Ability to work at heights of 8 feet or higher and climb ladders or steps as needed.
  • Comfortable with repetitive hand tool use and prolonged periods working under trucks and trailers.
  • Ability to concentrate for extended periods to ensure proper and safe repairs.
  • Willingness to work 40 hours over 5 days and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, sitting, and working on uneven surfaces.

Compensation

  • $28.00-$30.00 per hour based on previous experience.
