Mechanical Service Technician – Jenbacher Engines
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Service Tech – Jenbacher Engines in Salt Lake City, UT to perform hands-on service and repair work on Jenbacher Gas Engines, ranging from 0.25 to 9.5 MW. These engines operate on natural gas or other gases like biogas and landfill gas. This role requires a blend of mechanical and electrical skills, a strong commitment to safety, and excellent problem-solving abilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform routine checks and maintenance of Jenbacher Gas Engines following established protocols, including oil checks, filter replacements, valve replacements, and various measurements.
- Conduct minor and major repairs in compliance with service protocols.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electronic engine issues, analyze failures, and review historical engine data.
- Coordinate with external suppliers for specialized tasks and ensure maintenance activities comply with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) protocols.
- Prepare detailed site visit reports documenting visit reasons, actions taken, materials used, and follow-up actions if necessary.
- Maintain a basic inventory of spare parts in service vehicles and ensure a clean and organized work environment.
- Work effectively within a team setting or independently as required.
- Manage administrative tasks such as processing timesheets, expense reports, EHS forms, and job reports promptly.
Requirements:
- 5-10 years of experience with reciprocating engines preferred.
- Previous experience as a car mechanic, electrician, or in a related field.
- Technical certification in Mechanical or Electrical fields.
- Residency in or willingness to relocate to the Salt Lake City area.
- Availability for frequent travel, particularly during the initial training period.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive company vehicles as per company standards.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. (sponsorship not available).
- Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
Preferred Characteristics:
- Experience with Jenbacher or similar reciprocating gas/diesel engines, particularly Series 6.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in computer usage, including software applications and PLC systems.

- Overtime Available after 40 hours
- Some weekends could be included
Compensation
- $25.00 – $42.00/hour depending on experience
