Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic
Job Description
Join a dynamic team as a Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic in Fremont, CA, specializing in Komatsu heavy equipment supported by Local 3. You will be responsible for on-site servicing, including diagnostics and repairs, ensuring the highest standards of safety and customer satisfaction. Ideal technicians are those with solid experience in field service with a strong background in diesel engines, hydraulics, and electronics
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in heavy equipment.
- Utilize OEM websites to access service manuals and documentation.
- Operate a service truck to reach various customer locations.
- Perform factory updates and maintain adherence to manufacturer’s labor time guidelines.
- Accurately document work time, service reports, and equipment status to ensure precise billing and record-keeping.
- Manage warranty submissions and part storage for reimbursement.
- Conduct Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA) at each job site and maintain a constant awareness of potential hazards.
- Maintain professional communication with customers, vendors, and manufacturers.
- Update customer machine data in enterprise and customer relationship management systems (ERP and CRM).
- Support department goals aimed at customer loyalty and accurate data management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and diagnostics.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record over the past three years.
- Proficiency in understanding hydraulic and electrical schematics and performing effective troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with electronically controlled machinery.
- Competency in using laptops and software applications such as Microsoft Outlook and Word; training on dealer ERP will be provided.
- An Associate degree or certification in Diesel Mechanics is preferred, but a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

- Dayshift – 7:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday
- Overtime Available!
- Double-time Available after 12 hours!
Compensation
- $50 to $60/hr based on experience and certifications + Sign On Bonus Included!
- Annual Wage Increases!
