Medium/Heavy Truck Technician (DEM) Program Summary:
The program prepares students to diagnose mechanical problems and to make repairs to components of diesel-powered heavy-duty trucks and equipment. The program involves attending on-campus classroom and laboratory sessions as well as the opportunity to reinforce skills through cooperative work experiences in the diesel mechanics industry.
This program consists of one short certificate, one certificate, and one A.O.T. degree option.

Lawson State Community College, also known as LSCC, is a comprehensive, public, two-year College with campuses located in Bessemer and Birmingham. It was established in the year 1949 as the Wenonah State Technical Institute. It merged with Lawson State Junior College in 1973 and became Lawson State Community College.
LSCC’s athletics department sponsors several men’s and women’s sports teams. The teams participate in various intercollegiate sports including volleyball, baseball, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball. The college also has a cheerleading team. LSCC’s student body is active and impressive. The campus is home to a number of clubs and organizations such as Alpha Theta Phi Library Society, Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), and The Sophist Club.
