Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair issues in diesel engines, automatic transmissions, and other vehicle systems, including steering, braking, drivetrains, suspensions, and HVAC.
  • Maintain and repair electric vehicles (EVs), utilizing High-Voltage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure safety.
  • Own and utilize a basic mechanic’s tool set (diagnostic and specialized tools provided by CDTA, along with a generous tool allowance).
  • Ensure fleet reliability through efficient and high-quality repairs.
  • Obtain ASE Master Technician Transit Bus certification within 12 months of employment and maintain certification throughout your tenure.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent required.
  • Five years of experience in a diesel shop working with heavy/medium-duty fleets or equivalent auto/truck mechanical repair experience (vocational and apprenticeship credits accepted).
  • Vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
  • Must pass a technical aptitude and hands-on test to demonstrate diagnostic and repair skills on heavy-duty buses or trucks before employment begins.
  • Class D (standard) driver’s license with three years of driving experience and a clean, valid NYS driving record (no excessive speed violations, DWIs, DUIs, or DWAIs).
  • Class B CDL with passenger endorsement required within three months of hire.

  • Overtime available!

Compensation

  • Starting Salary $90,000/year! With Attendance Bonus!
