Job Description
Heavy equipment service company seeking experienced Field & Shop Mechanics to join a growing team in Kaukauna, WI. Work on a diverse range of equipment including vac trucks, drills, trenchers, skid steers, and directional drilling rigs. Position involves both in-shop diagnostics and field service work. Clean, well-maintained facility with modern diagnostic tools and a strong culture of accountability and continuous learning.
Requirements
Must-haves:
Electrical diagnostics and hydraulics knowledge
2+ years heavy equipment or diesel mechanic experience
Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required within 3090 days (company-funded; ~$3,000 reimbursement; pro rata clawback if employee departs early)
Honest, accountable communication style
Punctuality and commitment to maintaining clean workspace
Basic hand tools (minimum half-inch drive sockets)
Nice-to-haves:
ASE or AC certification
OEM factory training (bronze, silver, or gold level)
Tier 4 engine diagnostic knowledge
Previous field service truck experience
Directional drilling or heavy construction equipment background
Compensation & Benefits
Wage range: $30$40/hour (based on experience and qualifications; flexible for qualified candidates with CDL and strong diagnostics)
Overtime: Paid after 40 hours/week
Health insurance: Blue Cross Blue Shield (medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD); company covers ~85% employee-only, ~75% with dependents; eligible first of month after 30 days
Retirement: 401(k) with 25¢-on-dollar match up to 5%, vested 20%/year; eligible after 6 months
Profit sharing: Distributed annually after 6-month tenure and year-end audit; vested 20%/year
Paid time off: 40 hours PTO (accrues 1 hour per 40 worked, capped at 40); 40 hours vacation; nine paid holidays; all begin after 90 days (negotiable based on experience)
OEM training bonuses: Paid upon completion of certifications
Tool reimbursement: Up to $1,050 (scales with technician level)
Boot allowance: $140/year (rolls to $280 if unused)

Hours
Shop hours: MondayFriday, 7:00 AM5:00 PM
Overtime availability: Typically 05 hours/week on both positions; depends on workload and weather
On-call: Field mechanics carry company phone for emergencies; no formal rotation; no on-call incidents in ~18 months of operation
Field work: Weather-dependent; calls range from 10 minutes to 4 hours away; service truck taken home only when necessary for next-day distant jobs
Shop environment: 45 bays; clean, well-maintained facility; two gantries and forklift; diagnostic software includes Cummins Insight, Yanmar, Kubota
