A public works team is hiring a 310T/310S Fleet Mechanic in Huntsville, ON to maintain and repair fleet vehicles and equipment. Ideal candidates have a valid Ontario 310T or 310S certificate and diesel experience. Apply now to support essential community services!

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on municipal vehicles, trucks, and equipment, including diesel-powered units.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and related vehicle systems.
• Complete basic welding, fabrication, and hydraulic repairs as needed.
• Oversee, schedule, and coordinate vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair work.
• Operate vehicles and equipment for inspection, testing, and verification after repairs.
• Maintain safe, organized, and efficient shop practices while supporting fleet reliability.
• Work independently and as part of the Operations Division, including occasional physical labour and operational support.

Requirements

• Required:

• • Valid Ontario Truck and Coach Service Technician Certificate 310T or Automotive Service Technician Certificate 310S.
  • Minimum 4 years of related mechanic experience, including experience with diesel-powered equipment.
  • Secondary School Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Sound knowledge of vehicle, truck, and heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Knowledge of basic welding, fabrication procedures, hydraulic repairs, and mechanic shop operations.
  • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment for testing purposes.
  • Valid Province of Ontario Class G driver’s license.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions with general guidance, and contribute effectively in a team environment.

• Preferred:

• • 421A Heavy Equipment Technician License.
  • Emergency Vehicle Technician License.
  • Small engine repair experience.
  • Valid Province of Ontario Class D-Z or A-Z driver’s license.
