310T/310S Fleet Mechanic

Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on municipal vehicles, trucks, and equipment, including diesel-powered units.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and related vehicle systems.
- Complete basic welding, fabrication, and hydraulic repairs as needed.
- Oversee, schedule, and coordinate vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair work.
- Operate vehicles and equipment for inspection, testing, and verification after repairs.
- Maintain safe, organized, and efficient shop practices while supporting fleet reliability.
- Work independently and as part of the Operations Division, including occasional physical labour and operational support.
Requirements
- Required:

- Valid Ontario Truck and Coach Service Technician Certificate 310T or Automotive Service Technician Certificate 310S.
- Minimum 4 years of related mechanic experience, including experience with diesel-powered equipment.
- Secondary School Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Sound knowledge of vehicle, truck, and heavy equipment maintenance.
- Knowledge of basic welding, fabrication procedures, hydraulic repairs, and mechanic shop operations.
- Ability to operate vehicles and equipment for testing purposes.
- Valid Province of Ontario Class G driver’s license.
- Ability to work independently, make sound decisions with general guidance, and contribute effectively in a team environment.

- 421A Heavy Equipment Technician License.
- Emergency Vehicle Technician License.
- Small engine repair experience.
- Valid Province of Ontario Class D-Z or A-Z driver’s license.
