Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Job Description
We are looking for a motivated, experienced Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic to join a team in diagnosing, repairing and maintaining specialty heavy construction equipment at the main Shop in King, Ontario. Technicians with 421A/RedSeal license, specialized construction equipment or international construction project experience are encouraged to apply.
As you gain experience, you will have the opportunity to participate in the development, design and build of our custom equipment. Team members will be given opportunities to travel to project sites across Canada and the United States in order to increase their practical knowledge and field experience.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and safely repair a wide range of equipment including diesel engines, generators, drills and pumps, including hydraulic/pneumatic systems
- Participate in the performance of major equipment overhauls
- Update Shop Superintendent regarding job status, parts required etc.
- Prepare accurate written service work order sheets and reports
- Perform factory updates or modifications as required
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Skills & Capabilities:
- 5+ experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic required
- 3+ years of direct construction equipment repair experience or a 421A/RedSeal certification is considered an asset
- Techs must have a strong working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical components
- Experience with electronics and electrical ( i.e. PLC Panels) is an asset
- Demonstrated diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, component exchange, repair and warranty related activities
- Ability to read and understand schematics and technical drawings
- Ability to effectively communicate detailed and complex information in a clear and concise manner
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Competent with essential computer skills – i.e. MS Outlook and Excel
- Ability to safely and freely access all parts of an industrial or construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
- Physical ability to lift heavy parts and equipment
- Hold a valid driver’s license and independent means of transportation to work location.
Shifts
- Day Shift, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday
- Occasional overtime
Compensation
- $42.00 – $55.00/hour, based on equipment experience and certifications
