Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, inspect, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, routine service, and safety inspections to improve reliability and extend vehicle life.
  • Accurately document repairs, labor time, and parts usage through complete work orders.
  • Communicate repair findings, recommended work, and parts needs to the manager; coordinate effectively with team members as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe workstation and follow shop safety procedures at all times.
  • Support related maintenance work and other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Required:
    • Willing and able to work on both gas and diesel engines.
    • Proficient in vehicle diagnosis and repair, including basic electrical components such as switches, relays, and circuits.
    • Provide and maintain your own tools.
    • Able to follow written and oral instructions in English and communicate clearly with the team and management.
    • Motivated self-starter who can work independently and cooperatively in a fast-paced shop.
    • Routinely lift and carry up to 75 lbs and reach overhead.
    • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors with exposure to environmental elements, automotive fluids, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with emergency vehicle systems, including lighting and sirens.
    • Certificates of accomplishment or related technical training.

Shifts

  • Day shift, Monday to Friday

    • Typical hours align with standard weekday shop operations.

    • Occasional flexibility may be required for fleet coverage or emergency maintenance needs.

Compensation

  • $25.00 – $35.00/hour to start, based on experience and certifications.

The Lead Mechanic is responsible for the general maintenance and repair of all Superior Ambulance vehicles. The lead mechanic will be working in a fast-paced, high volume private fleet. This mixed fleet includes various makes and models of vehicles.
