Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, and safety checks on fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, and construction equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems, brakes, steering, suspension, and transmissions.
  • Respond to breakdowns and urgent repairs to restore equipment safely and minimize downtime.
  • Inspect and prepare new vehicles and equipment for service, replace components, complete tune-ups, and verify repairs.
  • Use diagnostic tools, shop equipment, service manuals, and schematics to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Maintain accurate repair records, track parts usage, and keep the shop safe, clean, and organized.

 

Requirements

  • Required:
    • Three years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing vehicles, heavy equipment, construction equipment, or similar machinery.
    • High school diploma or equivalent with specialized training in diesel, automotive, equipment repair, mechanics, or a related field.
    • Strong troubleshooting experience with diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic and electrical systems, brakes, steering, suspension, and transmissions.
    • Ability to safely use diagnostic tools, hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
    • Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and technical specifications and maintain accurate repair records.
    • Valid California Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record and ability to obtain a California Class A license with required endorsements within six months.
    • Ability to work onsite in San Jose and prioritize multiple repairs in a safety-focused fleet environment.
