Certified Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Job Description
A national retailer with a large equipment rental fleet in Vancouver, BC is hiring a full-time Certified Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain, inspect, diagnose, and repair rental equipment across assigned locations. Ideal candidates hold Journeyperson or Red Seal certification with diesel, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostic experience. Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair gas/diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, braking, fuel, and related mechanical systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance, equipment and lift inspections, and pre-delivery inspections.
- Independently plan and prioritize mobile service work across assigned rental locations, responding to urgent customer calls and coordinating on-site repairs within 24 hours.
- Order parts, track labour, complete work orders, and coordinate repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
- Coordinate equipment deployments, store-to-store transfers, auctions, asset tracking, and GPS systems.
- Support rental associates and service technicians with equipment procedures, training, repairs, and customer solutions.
Requirements
- Required:

- Current Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician/Mechanic Provincial Journeyperson or Interprovincial Red Seal certification; must maintain required Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) certifications.
- 2+ years of heavy equipment, light industrial, or oil and gas mechanical experience.
- Ability to read and understand technical repair and parts manuals covering mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record and ability to pass a background check.
- Comfortable driving service vehicles and delivery trucks, towing tandem-axle utility trailers, and safely securing loads.
- Must provide standard personal tools of the trade.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs, perform physical repairs on and around equipment, and work outdoors in variable weather around dirt, grease, and high-traffic areas.

Compensation
- $45.00–$50.00/hour
