boosting with a portable welder

:P i have portable miller 302 i would like to know exsactly how to set up for boosting equipment with this machiene i know its done all the time in field work but dont know how the set up is done , can some one give me step by tep instuctions so as i dont end up with fried ecm or battery parts across the hood thankx

I have also seen this done. I have also replaced ECU's because of it. Anything over 32vdc can cause damage. I have never done it nor will I. On the old stuff its probably not as dangerous but anything built after about 1985 probably has some type of ECU albit simple.

the miller 305 when set to its voltage doesnot jump over that voltage when you strike an arc unlike the lincon welder will have a slight jump in voltage

i heard a guy say he connected his multi meter with adjustments at min. then slowley adjusted up until desired voltage is obtained. Polarity can be read when meter is connected.
