Job Description

Actively looking for a 421A Heavy Equipment Technician based in London, Ontario. The position offers an opportunity to work on a diverse fleet of heavy equipment in a well-established shop environment. This role involves approximately 80% shop-based work and 20% field service, with mechanics taking equipped service trucks home for job site calls. The company operates a modern facility with overhead cranes, organized bay sections, and digital work management systems, serving a dominant local market with year-round work availability.

Requirements

Must-haves:
• Red Seal Journeyman 421A Heavy Equipment Technician certification
• Would look at 4th year apprentices
• Valid Ontario driver's license with good insurance record
• Ability to work on multiple equipment brands (Cat, John Deere, Komatsu, Link Belt, Case, Sany, Kubota, etc.)
• Own hand tools (up to 3/4 inch drive, inch and a half wrenches, etc.

Nice-to-haves:
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
• Experience with diagnostic troubleshooting on heavy equipment
• Multi-brand equipment background
• Recently certified journeymen with strong foundational knowledge

Compensation & Benefits

• Wage: $45–$52/hour (based on experience and qualifications)
• Overtime: Time-and-a-half after 44 hours per week; typical 2–5 hours weekly (additional hours during winter shutdown period)

Hours

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, day shift with flexible start times

• On-Call: Rare after-hours calls; primarily day-shift role
• Work Environment: Mix of shop-based diagnostics/repairs and field service calls; service truck work required
