A well-established student transportation fleet is hiring a Lead Diesel Technician in Sunderland, ON to lead school bus maintenance and repairs. Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair school bus systems, including steering, brakes, electrical, cooling, drivetrain, suspension, power steering, clutches, transmissions, and engine components.
- Lead preventive maintenance and unscheduled repairs to keep fleet vehicles safe, reliable, and ready for daily service.
- Supervise maintenance staff and ensure repairs are completed according to applicable safety, regulatory, and maintenance standards.
- Use computerized maintenance systems to track work orders, repair activity, and parts inventory.
- Oversee parts inventory, purchasing support, and shop maintenance planning for daily, weekly, and monthly repair priorities.
- Coordinate with local operations teams, including driver care, route operations, and customer care, to support safe and dependable fleet service.
Requirements
- Required:

- 310T or 310S certification required.
- 5+ years of auto, truck, bus, or diesel fleet repair experience.
- 5+ years of fleet supervisor experience in a diesel shop with medium- or heavy-duty vehicles.
- Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing diesel, electrical, braking, steering, drivetrain, suspension, cooling, and engine systems.
- Strong computerized diagnostics experience and computer proficiency.
- Working knowledge of Ontario commercial vehicle safety and compliance requirements for medium- and heavy-duty trucks or buses.
- Background in maintenance planning, scheduling, parts inventory, purchasing, and budget management.
