Job Description
Position Title: Maintenance Shop Supervisor / Lead Maintenance Technician
Location: Pulaski County, Kentucky
Reports To: Shop Manager
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Shop Supervisor to lead our shop operations and manage a team of five technicians. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical expertise with supervisory responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel truck maintenance and either proven leadership experience or demonstrated readiness to lead a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage five technicians on the shop floor
- Perform diagnostics and triage of vehicle issues
- Execute and oversee maintenance and repair work
- Train and mentor technicians to ensure optimal efficiency
- Assist technicians with complex diagnostics and repairs
- Work collaboratively with the shop office manager on daily operations
- Maintain shop safety and compliance standards
- Perform pre-employment background checks and drug testing coordination
Technical Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 5+ years of diesel truck maintenance experience
- Proficiency in diagnostics using manufacturer software (Mack, Volvo, Peterbilt)
- Experience with the following repairs:
- Oil changes and grease jobs
- Alignment services
- DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) services
- External components (starters, alternators, turbos)
- Overhead valve sets
- AC system work
- Knock sensor diagnostics
- Leadership experience preferred; readiness to lead is acceptable
- Valid driver's license required; CDL beneficial
Work Environment:
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:30 PM with occasional Saturday coverage
- Shop equipped with 4–5 pull-through bays plus one half bay with shipping/receiving dock
- Access to diagnostic tools, alignment machine, and DPF service equipment
- Service truck available for fleet support
- Work with approximately 70 trucks (primarily 2023+ models)
- Services both company fleet and third-party vehicles
Compensation & Benefits:
- Wage Range: $30–$35/hour (based on qualifications and experience)
