Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose equipment failures and determine the correct repairs for heavy trucks, off-road equipment, machinery, and related tools.
- Perform preventive maintenance, overhauls, and complex repairs on diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment.
- Repair engines, hydraulics, air compressors, pumps, fuel and exhaust systems, ignition systems, electrical components, brakes, transmissions, and clutches.
- Perform welding and fabrication repairs using oxy-acetylene and electrical welding equipment.
- Road test light trucks, heavy trucks, fire trucks, dump trucks, forklifts, backhoes, service trucks, and similar equipment to confirm proper operation.
- Provide emergency road service and support on-call coverage or emergency fleet response needs when required.
Requirements
- Required:

- High School Diploma or GED.
- Advanced hands-on experience repairing and maintaining diesel and gasoline-powered trucks, heavy equipment, machinery, and tools; equivalent education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Strong working knowledge of heavy equipment assembly, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair, including construction equipment, light trucks, heavy trucks, and mechanical equipment.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic, electrical, brake, transmission, fuel, exhaust, ignition, and engine systems.
- Certificates of Training and/or current ASE certifications in required areas such as heavy truck, A/C, electronic diesel engines, Cummins, Navistar, and Allison systems.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class A Florida Commercial Driver’s License or obtain one within 6 months of hire.
- Able to perform heavy physical repair work, lift up to 100 lbs, work in demanding shop or field conditions, and support on-call or emergency fleet response needs when required.

Compensation
- $24.05 – $31.26/hour starting pay based on previous experience, certifications, and training
- Additional compensation based on licensure
