A specialized heavy equipment company near Sparta, NJ is seeking a Senior Diesel Technician. The role focuses on maintaining and repairing drilling rigs, excavators, and other heavy construction machinery.

This position offers a mix of shop and field service work with opportunities for overtime and advancement within a growing operation.

Requirements

Must-Haves

• 7–10+ years of heavy equipment technician experience
• Strong troubleshooting abilities across:
• Hydraulic systems
• Electrical systems
• Mechanical systems
• Ability to read schematics and technical documentation
• Experience with preventative maintenance and major repairs
• Ability to work independently in shop and field settings
• Must provide personal technician tools
• Valid driver’s license

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with foundation construction equipment
• Welding experience
• OEM diagnostic software familiarity
• Experience supporting customer equipment in the field
• Strong communication and customer service skills

Hours

• Standard hours typically 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
• Frequent overtime opportunities
• Senior Technicians regularly average 50+ hours weekly
• Combination of indoor and outdoor work environments
• Shop equipped with cranes, ventilation, and organized workspaces
• On-call support rotation primarily handled remotely by phone
