Job Description

A growing, well-equipped mobile heavy equipment service company in Toronto, ON is hiring a Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Field Service for customer-site repairs. Ideal candidates bring strong heavy equipment diagnostic and repair experience across diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair diesel, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, driveline, braking, steering, cooling, and emissions systems.
  • Perform field repairs, breakdown service, inspections, and preventive maintenance on customer equipment.
  • Service excavators, loaders, skid steers, forklifts, aerial equipment, agricultural machinery, and related equipment.
  • Use diagnostic software, schematics, service manuals, scan tools, meters, gauges, and hydraulic test equipment.
  • Test completed repairs and document labour, travel, parts, findings, photographs, repairs, and recommendations accurately.
  • Maintain a safe, organized service vehicle and represent the company professionally at customer locations.

 

Requirements

  • Required:
    • 10+ years of relevant mechanical repair experience, including 3+ years of hands-on heavy equipment repair experience.
    • Strong diesel, hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic troubleshooting skills.
    • Ability to work independently at customer yards, construction sites, industrial facilities, farms, municipal sites, and roadside locations.
    • Valid Ontario driver’s licence with an acceptable driving record and ability to work a fully field-based, on-road service role.
    • Personal hand tools appropriate to the role; specialized tooling and diagnostic equipment are company-provided.
    • Ability to perform physically demanding repairs and work outdoors in varying field conditions.
    • Professional communication, accurate service documentation, and legal authorization to work in Canada.
    • Must complete pre-employment reference checks, driver’s abstract review, and criminal background check.
  • Preferred:
    • Ontario 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification.
    • Mobile field-service, dealership, or rental-fleet experience and familiarity with OEM diagnostic software.
    • Welding, fabrication, hydraulic testing, emissions/after-treatment experience, or relevant workplace safety certifications.

Shifts

  • Day shift, four 11-hour shifts per week
  • On-call, evening, weekend, and emergency work may be available

Compensation

  • $50.00 – $60.00/hour to start
  • Overtime and after-hours earning opportunities
  • Professionally equipped company service truck or van, with take-home use when applicable
  • Paid work-related travel time under company policy
