Diesel Technician / Mechanic
Job Description
A long-established trucking fleet in Columbus, OH is hiring a Diesel Technician / Mechanic to maintain and repair a variety of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and refrigeration units. Ideal candidates bring proven truck and trailer repair experience, diesel diagnostics, and preventive maintenance skills. Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair Freightliner, Kenworth, Ottawa, and Autocar trucks and Wabash, Great Dane, and Utility trailers.
- Service refrigeration units and perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and inspections.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, brakes, electrical, air, suspension, and steering systems.
- Use diagnostic software and OEM systems to troubleshoot mechanical and electronic faults.
- Perform DOT inspections and safety checks while maintaining accurate service and repair records.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and complete repairs to high-quality standards.
Requirements
- Required:

- 2+ years of diesel mechanic, truck repair, or trailer repair experience.
- Ability to diagnose and repair heavy-duty trucks and trailers, including routine maintenance and minor repairs.
- Experience using engine diagnostic software and mechanical troubleshooting tools.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance and routine service on heavy-duty trucks.
- Must have basic mechanic hand tools.
- Ability to maintain accurate repair records and follow safe work practices.

- Experience repairing Class A trucks and maintaining commercial trailers.
- 1+ year of refrigerated trailer experience.
- Knowledge of DOT inspection procedures.
- ASE T2–T8 or equivalent certifications.

Compensation
- $28.00 – $35.00/hour based on experience and qualifications
